4 Things That Could Go Wrong On Your Wedding Day

You’ve dreamed of your wedding day since you were a little girl. You know it’s going to be perfect, and nothing can possibly go wrong… right? As many brides have discovered, weddings are just as likely to have mishaps as any other major event in life. That said, I don’t want this list to scare anyone; it’s meant to help you be prepared for anything that might pop up on the big day. If you’re reading this article after your wedding day has already passed, please know that nothing is ever truly ruined forever—you’ll get through whatever happened, and then hopefully laugh about it later…hopefully. And if you’re reading this before your wedding day? Well done! You’re already ahead of the game by thinking about how things could go wrong and preparing yourself for them accordingly. Here goes:

The weather can be unpredictable.

If you’re considering a wedding in the summer, it’s important to remember that no matter how well-planned your day is, bad weather can still happen. Especially here in Houston where one side of the street can be pouring rain, while the other is like summer sunshine! It’s always good to have a backup plan for bad weather (such as having an indoor ceremony) and also prepare for any unexpected changes in temperature—the AC may break on your big day!

  • Don’t let rain ruin your special day. Plan ahead by having two ceremonies: one indoors and one outdoors (if possible). If not, consider holding an outdoor reception with a tent or covering area.
  • If it’s cold, also consider an indoor ceremony and reception. If not, renting a few space heaters and an enclosed tent could go a long way in keep you and your guests warm.
  • If the summer heat is starting to make you melt, opt for a venue with indoor spaces with strong AC.

Family drama and tension

You’ve invited all of your family and friends to the wedding. You’ve planned for every eventuality, from rainy weather to a shortage of vegetarian options at the buffet. There’s just one thing you’ve been neglecting: the possibility that many of these people might not get along with each other. In other words, when you think about what could go wrong on your wedding day—don’t forget about family drama! While it can be one of life’s greatest joys, there can also be some unresolved tension between family members. The following tips will help keep any family tensions from getting out of control on your big day:

  • Talk with everyone in advance about how they’d like to handle conflicts or disagreements
  • Set expectations clearly and enforce them consistently (i.e., if someone is asked not to do something once or twice—like bringing their favorite alcoholic beverage—they should know that third time will result in removal from the event)
  • Let family members know they’re welcome but also understand that there are consequences for inappropriate behavior

You and your bridal party could be running late

There are two main reasons you might be late: traffic or the bridal parties lateness in getting ready. It’s important to consider the possibility of both before planning your wedding day timeline.

  • If you’re worried about being stuck in traffic, it might help to choose a venue closer to where everyone is staying (and therefore not too far from where they can get ready).
  • Try utilizing a transportation service or shuttle, so at least everyone in your wedding party is together in the same vehicle to and from the ceremony venue. This will help you avoid waiting up on a bridesmaid or groomsman who is falling behind.
  • Be sure to let your Hair & Makeup team know how many people will need there services. This will help them prepare accordingly with their team. They will also be able to estimate how long it will take them

The DJ & the music

The DJ can be the most important person at your wedding, and he or she will assist in making sure everything runs smoothly. It’s important that you feel comfortable with him or her; after all, they will be the ones playing all of your favorite tracks and keeping the party going through dinner and beyond.

There are several things to consider when choosing a DJ:

  • It is important that the DJ follows the wedding timeline and plays the songs accordingly. We don’t want to accidentally hear the Cha Cha Slide when you are walking down the aisle.
  • Does this person have experience? You want someone who knows how to read a crowd and knows how to help keep things moving along so that everyone stays happy—and no one feels like they’re stuck in line waiting for their turn on the dancefloor!
  • Does this DJ know how to play music? Do they have a good selection of songs available for different genres? If not, can I bring my own collection? What about some last-minute requests from friends who want specific songs played during their dances with us (or each other).

Things might go wrong on your wedding day, but you can minimize this by working with reputable vendors.

Working with a wedding planner is important and can help you avoid many of the things that could go wrong on your wedding day. A good planner will plan for all possible disasters, big and small. They’ll also help you plan for all the things you want to fit into your day—the first look, bridal party photos, escorting unwanted guests your of the wedding, and much more. And finally, professional wedding planners know how to expertly navigate high-tension relationships (between bridal parties or families) in ways that bring out the best in everyone involved—even when it feels like there’s nothing left to say but “I can’t do this anymore.”

Hopefully, this list will make you feel better about your wedding day. If anything goes wrong on your wedding day, it’s not the end
